AS I have already said, October is a month of changes for me - and not just because of a birthday. Or not usually. Time passes as the months fly by on a calendar, and normally by birthday is just another day. But recently, my beautiful granddaughter, Allison, became engaged to be married.
My goodness it seems like just yesterday that her father was taking his first footsteps. And then the memories start flooding in - his first date, prom and eventual marriage. He has given me three wonderful grandchildren but as it's these milestones that really make feel the passing of time. Beautiful memories and regrets come to the fore as the pain of losing my son's father come again to the surface. Of how much of his sons life he missed and how he would have beamed with pride at the granddaughter he never lived to see.
In every story that I write, there is a piece of Mac in there - his voice echos in one of my characters and to some extent lives again in words. A song from Fiddler on the Roof comes to mind . . . "I don't remember growing older, when did they?"
So as the leaves turn gold, and summer drifts slowly into fall, the season of winter will soon be here - and old memories and new ones will merge as my family welcomes one more member. And as another song say, "and the beat goes on."
A way to keep up with my thoughts, new novels and in general a mishmash of everything that comes into my head.

Musing
Well, Fall is just around the corner. Although it's always been my favorite time of the year, it also makes me a bit melancholy. Not because of my upcoming birthday - hell at my age it's hallmark that I've made it through another year. I guess because it hallmarks another year almost gone - a year with success and failures, heartache and happiness. Yet, like the song says, "and the beat goes on."
I feel proud that since April, I've successfully completed two novels, Chasing Destiny and my newest, Time Heals Everything. I never stopped writing, but publishing was something that I thought would never happen, so I'm grateful for the discovery of Smashwords. Now as I start research for yet another novel, I'm laughing at the antics of my two cats who are trying their darnedest to distract me, while my Sheltie looks on with a look of appall on his face. But my three babies keep me company in the wee hours when I do most of my writing, and don't seem aware that it's still the middle of the night. Better than most of my human companions who still are dazed and confused. But then we writers are an odd bunch and hard to understand, I accept that.
I read an article recently about 'voices in my head' and it had me chuckling. Outside of authors, and perhaps musicians who hear music or have lyrics floating around in their head, most would assume us to be schizophrenic - and perhaps we are a bit. Voices of our characters who often dictate their stores and take us far away from original plots - scenes or locations that change at their whim . . . it's an odd world that we live in. But it is one I wouldn't give up for anything. And from a purely selfish point of view - it's a great way to find my sort of hero without leaving the space of my computer. That's hard do beat. Especially when October rolls around.

New Arrivals
My first order of books came in today - it's an odd feeling. It's not a large order but it's the first and so it's very special. I guess I've always dreamed of someone wanting to read my work - but to actually know it is something else. In a way it's like sending your kid to the first day of school. You hope that they do well, that they make new friends, but another part wants to hold them in your arms for just one more day. To let them be your baby just a little bit longer. But - just as children have to out into the world - so do my books. So I hope that they bring joy to their new homes, now and for years to come.

Chasing Destiny - progress report
Well I'm hoping that UPS will surprise me and that the book will show up a day early so that I can take a look at it and possibly make it available for print. I'm crossing my fingers, which makes it darn hard to type! In the meantime, it is available on Kindle for those who would care to look for Chasing Destiny that way!
Hugs,
Linda

A learning experience
I had always believed that the writing process was the most difficult part of this art. And now, I'm learning that maintaining, setting up all the various sites for the art of the sale, is even more daunting than any plot development. But I'm learning - I hope that as time to goes by more will be interested in the adventures of my beautiful witch and want to read about her. But I can't say that I'm off to a bad start either.
But PLEASE if you do read either the exert or purchase the book in its various forms, that you will leave a review. In less than a week, the story will be coming out in print form - I can't wait to see that.

Chasing Destiny - progress report
Well, I'm not off to a bad start...two sales on my first day. It all still seems so surreal to me - that after all that work, that I'm finally published. The e-readers are already up for sale and I'm now working on getting it in printed form. Another type of formatting...this time in .pdf I'm beginning to realize that the writing is the easiest part. But I'll muddle through!

Chasing Destiny - progress report
Well, the book is now out in as many different outlets as I could possibly find. The best place that I can think of to find it in all of its many forms is Smashwords. Smashwords: https://www.smashwords.com/profile/view/LindaEble
If you're curious, there are links on my profile for other places where my book can be found. Wow, what an amazing and nerve wracking process this can be, but so well worth it now that I've gotten my feet wet. Now to rest for a day or two before beginning work on yet another manuscript, before returning for the second part of Chasing Destiny.
Best of reading!
